My Favorite Christmas Song

Mary Did You Know

As Sung by Petatonix

When we become parents, we have high hopes for our children. We guide them through life and anticipate that our children will become successful adults. Maybe they will become doctors, lawyers, airplane pilots, beauticians, or whatever their hearts desire. We are not given a blueprint of what their entire life will be like. We simple strive to be the best parents we can be and we pray that we are able to guide our children to be the best people they can be.

I am the mother of two beautiful girls. When they were born I felt very blessed. I still feel blessed today. Each of them has grown up with careers and children of their own. They are wonderful parents and continue the cycle of raising their children as best as they can.

Imagine what it must have been like for Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. I would think Mary was a mother like most mothers, with the same maternal instincts– instant, unconditional love and the desire to provide everything her child needed. But, unlike any ordinary mother, Mary gave birth to our Lord and Savior. God told Mary who her child would be before he was born. Still, I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to be the mother of a child who would one day teach me how to live; who would one day save the world.

In the song, Mary Did You Know, we hear of all the wonders of the healing and miracles Mary’s son performed. When I hear this song, I am always overwhelmed with emotion as I listen and try to imagine what it must have been like to be Mary, an ordinary woman giving birth to an extraordinary baby.

The rendition of the song sung by Petatonix is absolutely amazing. This is my favorite Christmas song. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
